*Ephedra fragilis* joint pine. Native to the western Mediterranean region of southern Europe and Northern Africa, and from Madeira and the Canary Islands. The aerial parts of Ephedra fragilis contain alkaloids, such as ephedrine and pseudoephedrine, the ingestion of which may pose a health risk.
